The hidden jewel of the southern coast, with premier beach access and exquisite million-dollar estates
The hip coastal area of Hollywood Riviera lies tucked inside the lush city Torrance, a hidden gem between Redondo Beach and Torrance Beach that draws in residents with its trendy surf vibes and jaw-dropping homes. The laid-back atmosphere finds harmony with niche neighborhood shopping and embodies the opulent beauty of the French Riviera after which it was modeled.
Hollywood Riviera was developed in 1927 by Clifford E. Reid and has maintained its gorgeous aesthetic ever since. Beach life remains at the forefront of the atmosphere here, but residents are never without a host of opportunities to get out and enjoy the many events, retail offerings, and dining options.
Homes range anywhere between $1.5 million all the way to upwards of $15 million, but the hefty price tags are more than worth it when buying property in this highly desirable residential location. In addition to dazzling views of the Queen’s Necklace and the beaches below, houses include everything from spectacular coastal penthouses and luxe condos to staggering Mediterranean estates with mansion-sized square footage, gated entrances, and unbelievable views from their perch on the coastal bluffs.
While the majority of residents in Hollywood Riviera are part of family households, there’s still a great mix of families with children and without, couples, singles, and retirees all looking to enjoy the relaxed coastal atmosphere of the area. Those who live here are dedicated to preserving the sense of elevated luxury, and the overall feel is that of casual elegance. Surfers and water sports enthusiasts also find themselves attracted to Hollywood Riviera, which has its own splendid beach while also being near other world-renowned surfing spots.
Much of the retail and dining opportunities in Hollywood Riviera are centered around the Riviera Village. Known as a hub for fashion, art, local shops, and eclectic dining, the Riviera Village also contains spas and fitness facilities, making it a true one-stop-shop-location for both residents and visitors.
One of the most exciting facets of living in Hollywood Riviera is the abundance of restaurants and the variety of available cuisine, starting with the Redondo Beach Brewing Company. Casual gastro-American fare pairs incredibly with their over 60 craft beers, and the friendly, warm atmosphere makes for a perfect meeting place among friends.
New York-style pizzas by the slice and exceptional deli offerings await at Pedone’s Pizza, where the lasagna is hand-crafted and the calzones come in gigantic proportions. The Riviera Mexican Grill has been serving up the best in margaritas and authentic Mexican fare for years at their festive location, whose outdoor patio features palm trees and delicate string lights. Hennessey's Tavern is an Irish-style pub that draws in an energetic crowd with craft brews and hearty pub fare, while H.T. Grill Red is the go-to for invigorating New American and modern cuisine. For a more upscale night out, ideal for dates or celebrations, there’s the Flyin’ Fin Sushi and Seafood and The Rex Steakhouse. The newly built venue of The Rex is brimming with luxury details and modern vibes, and the top-of-the-line fare is an epicurean delight for all who dine there.
Along with the multitude of outdoor activities like surfing, boating, spending time on the beach, or simply walking along the nearby piers, residents also get access to a number of wonderful community events. The Hollywood Riviera Farmers Market is open year-round every Sunday morning, and a colorful tapestry of incredible produce and hand-made goods are available to purchase from local vendors.
The most anticipated festival of the year in Hollywood Riviera is the Riviera Village Summer Festival, held in June. The event features live music, an international food court, a beer and wine garden, more than 300 exhibits, games and carnival rides, and free admission. A more low-key experience, the Riviera Halloween Stroll is a great place to take the kids trick-or-treating, as the streets from Catalina Avenue to Palos Verdes Boulevard close down to allow children to visit local shops for candy.
